I laughed as he babbled on, touched by his jittering mind. "Alright, I'll come here then." I shrugged. Slightly less scary, slightly more nervous-making. I laughed. "I love you, but I do have to leave eventually." I spoke with a sad note in my voice. I'd eventually probably be at home in this house someday. I could live with that. I smiled to myself at the idea.
I shrugged to myself. "This is probably really weird, but I have a thing for Indian food. Me and my mom used to live in Seattle and we'd eat it all the time before we moved back here." I hoped he wouldn't freak out about that--if anything I didn't want to be a burden.

"Indian food...from India. Okay...I think I can handle that. Curry, right? And...rice..." Lysander suddenly felt overwhelmed. I don't think I've ever had Indian food, he thought hopelessly. Looks like I'm going to be on the internet all night looking for things to make...and then I have to go grocery shopping...do they even have curry in Forks? "Indian food, okay. I-I think I can come up with a few dishes. Hopefully it isn't too complicated." Lysander sighed.
They entered La Push in record time and exited the freeway. Oh no, I hope her aunt isn't mad, he thought to himself as he looked at the time on the dashboard. "Are there-are there any dishes you'd like for me to make? I've, um, I've never actually had Indian food before so...I'm kind of...mulling things over in mind at the moment."

I instantly felt awful. I should have stuck with Chinese food...or Italian. But I knew he wouldn't give up now that I'd mentioned it. "All you need to know it Tandoori chicken and steamed Basmati rice with garlic nan bread. Me and my mom aren't spice people, so that was always what we got. We're creatures of habit."

"Tandoori chicken, steamed Basmati rice, and garlic nan bread. Okay...I think I can handle that. I mean...it can't be too hard, right?" Lysander bit the inside of his cheek as he drove down the narrow, dirt road to Adriana's house. "What about drinks? Lemonade? Ice tea? Soda? Wine?" Arg, I don't have any clue at all, he thought desperately. This is going to turn into a disaster, I can feel it. Lysander slowed to a stop in front of Adriana's house. He got out of his car and went around back to open her door, a worried look was on his face.

Adriana instantly felt awful. She stroked his cheek gently. "Shh, Lysander," she said, her voice gentle as always. "Lysander, don't worry about it. You don't have to, not at all. Stop expecting the worst, love. Please relax." She kissed his jaw as gently as she could, trying to be careful with him. She wasn't sure how he'd react to her being so close...
He was gone in an instant, walking around to her door at a normal human pace. She wondered why but then realized how easy it would be for her neighbors to see. She sighed, leaning back in her seat. She really wished he'd calm down.

Lysander looked at her, still seated in the passenger's side. He bent down slightly to her eye level. "I know. It's just...I want everything to be perfect, you know? I've never even been on a date before. I haven't even kissed a girl before I met you. I just...I want to be normal...for your sake...and I'll be fine. All I need to time and ingredients. Trust me." He smiled and held out his hand for her to take. "I hope you're not in trouble for being late and all." Just calm down, okay? It'll all turn out fine. If worst comes to worst, I could always just race down to Settle to get Indian food...

I raised an eyebrow. "You want to be normal for me?" My voice cracked on the last word. "I'm a werewolf." I stated this calmly. It was simple truth. I could turn into a werewolf at will. Or well, sometimes not at will, but I still turned into a wolf. I looked up at him. "You don't have to make it, you know. You could just get takeout like a normal person." I looked up at the lights of my house. They weren't home-y like my old house used to be. "Nah, my aunt never gets mad. She's always known I was a good kid, so she doesn't sorry much."

Lysander laughed. "Well, I know you're a werewolf. I'm not stupid." He smiled softly, thinking. "Yes, I want to be normal for you-or, at least, as normal as it can be considering everything...you know...I haven't seen you as a wolf yet. I'm kind of looking forward to it, actually." He smiled wider, thinking about it.
"What fun is take-out when I could actually make you something. And who said I was normal? I think we're the most unconventionally couple." He took her good hand in his and gently pulled her out of his car and walked over to the front door. "I'll be here at seven. And if you don't mind, can I pick you up from school again?"

I raised an eyebrow. "You're looking forward to seeing me as a big fuzzy carnivore? Wow, you're something else." I smiled. "Alright. Make Indian food, if that's what you want," I said, willingly acquiescing to his stubborness. " My heart skipped uncomfortably when he took my hand. I walked almost slowly as he took me to my door...I didn't want to leave his side. I turned to him on my doorstep. "Alright. And yes, you can pick me up from school, I'll just have to run a heads up by Jake...he doesn't know how you personally smell so I don't want him losing his mind about it." I smiled. "Thanks for a wonderful day."

"Yes, I'm looking forward to it. Why wouldn't I? I love you, all of you. Whether you're a human girl or a wolf." He pressed his forehead gently to hers and closed his eyes. "You're welcome. Any day at all, any day you want to spend with me is fine." His breath touched her face and he smiled. "And I'm available for nights too." He laughed as he lightly kissed the tip of her nose. "You're so warm..." His voice trailed off as his arms hugged her body close to his. He minded the sling though, he wanted to be careful with her. "I love you so much. I'm in love with you." His eyes were still closed.

I smiled against him. He was too much...his words and his feelings, all of it was too strong for me. In an instant, I rippled before shoving all my instincts deep within me. I was not going to go wolf on him right now. My eyes searched his, but all they found was sincerity. My heart nearly froze in my chest. The cold touch of him was refreshing, I was sure my already-overheated skin was boiling with his touches. In fact, just breathing was a task I couldn't seem to handle. I gasped for air, and it had nothing to do with the fast dulling ache in my shoulder. I closed my eyes and leaned against him. "I love you. I can't be quite so romantic but I can say that."

"You don't have to be romantic. Just being yourself is more then enough for me. And I don't deserve you anyways." He opened his eyes looking at her genuinely. He almost felt alive with the warmth that radiated from to him. He felt the warmth deep in his skin, in his bones. "You make me feel human again, did you know that?" And I'm destroying her life all at the same time, he suppressed his negative thoughts for once. He wanted to be perfect for her. It was the least he could do. "You should get inside," his voice was just a whisper. "It's getting colder."

I sighed. "You plently deserve me. You give up natural food so you're not a monster. I think you're plenty deserving." I smiled at him, then shrugged. "It'd make sense for you to be human around me. Love is a human emotion, correct?" I smiled once more, then looked up at the sky. It looked like we might be in for an early snow. I grinned at the prospect. "Alright then, fine, I see you're trying to get rid of me!" I teased. I gave him one light kiss. "Bye, Lysander," I whispered, and then went inside and shut my door.

"Oh darnit, you've figured out my secret plan," he joked. Then she kissed him and he couldn't help, but smile. "Goodbye," he whispered back as he watched her go inside and shut the door. He smiled once again and walked back towards his car, but just as he was about to open the door, he turned back towards her house and smiled, thinking. "Sweet dreams," he whispered then entered his car and drove away from her house.
