Anna Williams grabbed the branch of the closest tree, to pull herself up. She was hiking, near the beach, she had gone to, a few days previously. She looked around, and saw that she was nearly at the top of the mountain, where she would rest, for a while, before coming back down. She turned around, as the ponytail, holding her long, dark hair off the back of her neck, came out. She saw it had gotten snagged on a tree limb, but before she took it off, she stopped, herself, and then left it there. That way, if she got lost, and she was most likely going to, all she would have to do is find her ponytail.
Anna turned back around, adjusted her hiking backpack, slightly, and continued to climb, up the steep hill. She looked around herself, as she did so, taking in the scenery. Of course, there wasn’t much to see, just trees, rocks/boulders, and the occasional small pool of water.
When Anna finally reached the top, she took off her hiking backpack, set it down on a boulder, climbed on top of the same boulder, grabbed a tree branch, and lifted herself into the tree. She then sat on a branch, which she thought would support her weight. She sat there, panting, for a long time. The only sounds made were the birds, singing their wonderful songs, or the rustling of tree leaves, as the small breeze blew through them, and through Anna’s hair. It was a beautiful day, a rare thing, for Forks.
Anna had a great view, from where she was sitting, everything seemed peaceful, and barely anything moved. Only occasionally, would the trees stir, as though they were trying to communicate with each other.

Jake was hiking, too. He was trying to get his mind off of things. He needed to relax, and walking did that to him. Besides, if he was in the woods, he could hide from stupid Sam Uley and his pack of vagrants. He hated them. He hated the way they watched him. He hated them for whatever they were hiding - drugs, alcohol, whatever. He wanted nothing to do with them.
"I hate them," he muttered to himself. Ahead, he saw the girl who had stopped by his house the other night when she was lost. It didn't make any sense - was she trying to get lost? Was she trying to get herself killed or something? Jacob didn't understand people sometimes.
"Hey!" He called out, hoping that she didn't startle too much. He walked ahead further, towards her. He moved quickly, maneuvering his way through the trees in a wolf like manner. The forest posed no problem for him. As a child, he had played in these woods with his friends Quil and Embry.

Anna looked around abruuptly, trying to find the source of the shout. She looked down, a few feet away from the tree she wa sitting in, was the guy, who's door she had knocked on the previous night, when she was lost. He must think your an idiot, or just plain mental. she told herself.
"Er...hi." she shouted back down to him. Then she adjusted her position, in the tree. grabbed another limb, and then swung from it, landing on her feet. But about two seconds after she landed on her feet, she fell down, by the force of the jump. She landed on the leafy ground, and on her butt, which would surely have grass stains, all over her jeans. She sighed and then started to stand back up.

Jake snorted when she fell. She had the agility down for a whole two seconds... but then the wet leaves took it right from out underneath her. He reached out a helping hand to support her while she tried to stand up. Jake was making an effort to be nice, anyway.
"What's up, Anna? Other than acting like a monkey and falling out of trees, that is," he said in a good natured, joking tone. Jake liked to joke around with people. That was one of the things that Bella adored about him. Or at least... he thought that was one of the reasons that she liked him. They were best friends, anyway.
"You're on the Rez a lot, but you don't live here, right?" he asked. Jake knew that no one knew had moved onto the Rez. Billy would have mentioned it to him, he was sure. He would probably have had to have gone to her place with a jello mold or whatever. Jake hated being the welcome crew.

Anna stood up, with the help from Jacob, "Well, alling out of treesm that's pretty much it." she said, in a return joke. It seemeed so easy to talk to Jacob. "Yeah, I'm here, a lot. It just reminds me of Georgia, for some reason. The friendly people, the woods, and even the beach, sometimes." she added.
"But, no, I don't live here. I live in Forks. It's as strange place, it is. But, I just can't put my finger on what's off, with it." Anna said, and the moment she had let that slip out of her mouth, she knew it was a bad sign.

"Oh, that's exactly how I like to spend my days, falling out of trees and all," Jacob joked in that husky tone of voice. Jacob released her hand quickly, once she was off of the ground. Jake didn't need the girl needing any stupid ideas. Jake only had eyes for Bella Swan. His best friend. Where was she, anyway? Oh well - she'd be around sooner or later. "Georgia?" He asked, confused. "I've never been there so I wouldn't know." He shrugged. Normally people didn't go off of the Rez.
"Forks is nice," Jake said in a reserved tone. He liked Forks, but he liked the Rez more. Bella was in Forks. He could tolerate the city. Besides, there were more things to do in Forks. "I don't know. Maybe you'd want to talk to Sam Uley about that one," Jake said sarcastically. The golden boy. Tribe pride. How lovely.

Anna laughed, as Jacob made another joke. “Yeah, I used to live in Georgia, it’s a great place. She knew something was wrong though, when he had immediately let go of her hand, she knew she did something wrong. Maybe Jacob thought she was a spas, and that’s why he didn’t want to be any where near her.
“Sam Uley?” Anna repeated, confused, “Who’s Sam Uley?” she asked him. But, by the look on Jacob’s face, and the sarcasm that was in his voice, she thought it was someone he didn’t like very much, if it at all.

"What's it like there? You don't have much of an accent," he said, thinking about it. Didn't people from Georgia have funny accents? What was the word.... hicks. No, she didn't seem like a hick. He surveyed the girl's outfit and appearance. For someone who just came from Georgia, she wasn't very tan. Then again, Bella hadn't been either.
"He's La Push's golden boy. He wouldn't like you here. This is our land. This is our tribe. Uley is all about Tribe Pride and our land and whatever. I'm so sick of him," he vented. It was a very non-Jacob characteristic.

“Yeah, well. I was born there, and everything. But my parents weren’t, I think. The people at the orphanage told me that they were from Colorado. I think that’s why I don’t have an accent.” Anna said. “I bet you’re also wondering why I’m so pale, well. I was only able to go to the beach once a year, as the yearly trip for the orphanage, that’s why I like going to the La Push beach, so much. But when I wasn’t at the beach for the yearly trip, I was stuck inside the stupid orphanage, there were almost no windows, and the walls were made of cement, in case of a tropical hurricane.” She explained. It felt weird, reliving her past to someone. But, it also sort of felt good, like she was getting some big thing of her chest.
“So, Sam Uley wouldn’t want me to be here?” Anna said, trying to understand what was going on, “Should I leave, then?” she asked, she didn’t want to become an enemy of La Push, she loved it there, and would do anything to still be allowed to go to the beach and go hiking and stuff, there.

Jake listened to Anna's story with a bit of interest. He had just asked to get her talking. Jake wasn't a big talker. Okay, actually, he was. But he didn't really know Anna. Therefore, he wasn't a big talker. Jake wasn't... shy or reserved, per say, but he did like things that were normal or expected. He liked routine, but he was always up for some unplanned fun. Basically, Jake just wasn't always good around people he didn't know. "Oh," he said, lamely. "That's... cool?" He didn't know how to react. Stupid Jake. "I thought that you would develop the accent of your town that you grew up in, not the accent that your parents had." Accent's weren't hereditary... but what did Jake know?
"So what brings you to Forks, then?"
"Well, Sam is weird. Don't worry about what he thinks. I'm just saying.. I don't know what I'm saying," Jake admitted with a sheepish grin.

“Yeah, most people probably expect me to have an accent. But I guess the fact that I really didn’t talk much had something to do with me not having an accent.” Anna said. She knew her explanations weren’t very good. But she didn’t really know why she didn’t have an accent, so she was just throwing out something that might explain it.
“I moved to Forks, because it seemed like the right place to get a new beginning.” Anna said. She just wanted to get away from Georgia, even though it was a beautiful place. It just held to many horrible memories. But, Anna couldn’t help herself from laughing, when Jacob had nothing left to say. He just seemed like the talkative type, to her. But, then again, everyone seemed like the talkative type, compared to her. And on the other hand, she had just spilled about her whole life’s history, to an almost complete stranger.

Jacob nodded. He was slightly unsure of what to say. Oh well. Sometimes Silence was everything that you needed.
"I guess I can see that. You can totally reinvent yourself here and they wouldn't know any better. It's unlike them not to trust someone. I can see why you chose Forks. A million miles from nowhere," he said softly, a far away look in his eyes. Bella had come to Forks, too. All the way from Arizona. And Jacob had never even left the area. Never felt the need. His family was here. What was left of it, anyway.

“Yeah, I thought it would be the best place to get away from…everything.” Anna tried to explain. “Have you been anywhere else? Besides Forks and La Push?” she asked him, slightly desperate for a change in topic.
It was the first thing that had popped into Anna’s mind, though. So it was the first thing she was able to say. Although, a few seconds after she’d said it, she’d wished for once she would think out what she said, before she said it.

"Port Angeles," Jacob said evenly. "Once I went to Seattle," Jacob added, absentmindedly. He hadn't liked Seattle. It... was a beautiful place. Too many people, too many buildings. It wasn't too far away - a four some hour drive. It was easy enough to take a day trip to Seattle, but he never felt the need. He felt home here. "I went to Tacoma once. And one time, the school went on a field trip to Mt. St. Helens," he remembered. That had been fun. They had been able to see the mountain and everything, right up close.
"What about you? Did you travel much before you came here?" he wondered.

Anna tried to stfile a giglle, as he told her some of the few place he'd been. "Well, I had to do a lot of traveling to get here." she began, "I couldn't afford a plane ticket. So I drove from Georgia to Forks. I got to do a lot of sight seeing, it was great!" she added, trying to put as much enthusiasim into it as she could.
"I got to go through Alabama, it's really nice there. Beautiful scenery." Anna said. "And, I've also gone to Port Angeles." she said, jokingly. She flashed him a big smile, after she'd said that.
