* It was always hard to describe Devon. Whenever her gal pals, not including the band's girls, asked her about him, she could never really tell them exactly. She was getting better, but not quite. He was more the kind of guy that you had to be around to understand what he was like. He was himself, that was the closest thing she could tack on him. Of course she added the usual,: sweet, funny, goofy, charming. They kind of words that you always used to describe the boy you liked. There was something else. Something special. It was the something that you added when you knew that this boy was different. She didn't know if it was the way he cheered her up so easily, the way when he held her she knew that she was at home, or even the way when he could laugh at himself, at and others, so easily. Dev was just so great all around! The time Vicky spent with him certainly wasn't enough. During their dates, she found herself wishing that they could go on forever and never come to an end. Whenever her lips found his, they never wanted to leave. It was almost like they were made for each other. Though she was an angel and he was a vampire, they'd learned to pass over that. Plus the two species weren't mortal enemies, they got along well enough. Angels got along with everyone, except some demons. Vicky, in her case, tried to stand them. They weren't so bad after the anger management issues died down somewhat. It was hard for her to immediately dislike someone. Her nature was just so soft and compassionate. Too forgiving. It had gotten her into trouble more than once. Not one for fighting, she usually just melted into the sidelines once again, waiting for her moods to pass.
* Vicky had been this terribly quiet girl before she met Devon. You know the girl who sat soft of to the side of the class that no one would notice unless called upon? Yeah, that was her. She got good grades, was quiet, never got into trouble. She was, actually, an angel. Gradually though, as she spent more and more time with the wild crazy band and their friends, she started to branch out, to be more outgoing. It was just subtle at first, talking more, being more spontaneous, laughing louder. But if you compared the Vicky now to the Vicky one year ago, you'd be surprised out of your socks. She's way more bouncy and bold, but if you look a little deeper, you can still see the old Vicky down there, quiet, a deep thinker, and has a small tendency to over analyze things. She has no ADD, but quite a lot of OCD. Well that was before. Now even the smallest things interest her, so I suppose the ADD is making an appearance. Still, she's not as wild as some, but certainly nothing like she was before. Before, she would never have gone out with a boy so calmly. Her palms would have gone clammy; her smiles would have been fainter. But now, after a year or so with Dev, she couldn't imagine how she could have felt uneasy around him. He was so ... she was at a loss of words again. Earlier they had gone to Massimo's for dinner, the local restaurant. It was good, though Vicky really wasn't that hungry. She had left half her spaghetti uneaten. Plus, she didn't eat as much in public anyways. After that, they had strolled around town, hand in hand, rather aimlessly, until they reached the beach. Vicky was glad for her light summer frock that she had chosen to wear. Taking off her shoes and holding them lightly by the heel in her hands, she was now bare foot, delighting in the squish of soft sand between her toes as she stood still. Looking up at him, finally able to tear her eyes away from the beautiful scene, Vicky smiled happily before kissing him on the cheek. "Thanks for tonight," she said finally, breaking the comfortable silence that had settled between them.
