Silence in a house full of vampires was a very odd thing. With their enhanced senses, it was normal – as normal as they could be – to hear and see everything around them. So while Alice was surprised the house was empty, she was almost relieved in a way. With the boys hunting, she was free to do as she pleased with complete and utter privacy of her mind. And what she wanted to do was immerge herself into the world of fashion.
She sighed and flipped through a fashion magazine, her mind flirting with the idea of a shopping trip with Rose. Paris, maybe? Milan? No, not Milan. Paris would be delightful this time of year, she thought. Of course, school made an impromptu more difficult, but with the right planning – she smirked at the thought – they could pull it off. She allowed the vision to come then and was satisfied with the results. She made a mental note to tell Rosalie that she should definitely wear purple more often. She looked fantastic in that dress. Yes, a weekend in Paris was just what they would need once everything was settled.
The magazine tumbled to the floor when Alice stood up unexpectedly. She looked around the room she shared with her beloved. Esme was certainly gifted with her interior designing. This room was perfect for them. Her fingers trailed along the silk comforter on their bed as she headed to the shower. The contrast of colors in the room was startling. It felt modern with the main colors being black and white. The only thing with a splotch of color visible in the room was their bedding which was a deep red – crimson red. The color of blood, her voice murmured in her head.
She admired the bed from the door leading to the hallway. She’d planned the room with Esme, of course, but the bed. That was all her. Alice giggled as she recalled the way Carlisle’s eyes would widened when the credit card statement came in, but for now, she was safe. The bed was exquisite, of course – truly the den of inequity with its forbidden hue. Alice sighed as she thought of the way her angel looked laying against the crimson comforter and sheeting – his golden hair mused and flopping in his face, his chest bare and filled with the scars of his former life.
Her eyes darkened with desire as she made her way gracefully to their shower. She scanned the future anxiously for the time of Jasper’s arrival. Emotions had been high since they arrived in Forks, and no doubt, Jasper had been forced to bear the brunt of it. Her lips twitched as she came out of the vision. You can take the boy out of the south, but you can’t take the south out of the boy – or vampire – that is, Alice thought as she sped through her normally extensive grooming process.
She walked back into their room, towel in hand, and waited for Jasper to return to her. Not even a full five minutes had passed when the door opened and Jasper pummeled into the room. There was a heavy silence in the air for a second or two before Jasper finally spoke.
