Anna Williams walked around downtown Forks. She had been bored. Before she decided to go for a walk, she was on her apartment’s roof top, reading the last few pages of A Midsummer’s Night. But, when she did finish she became very bored and decided to go for a walk around Forks, and, hopefully, without getting lost.
Anna peered into one, of the few, windows of a store. She saw it was a small, slightly shabby-looking, reading café and decided to go inside. As she opened the door, she heard the tinkling of the bells on the door, as she walked inside the café.
Anna looked around, as she stepped onto the welcoming mat, there weren’t many people. And the only worker was chewing gum and listening to very loud music. The wallpaper was a horrible brownish-green color. While the tan, stain-filled carpet seemed like it was laid down, carelessly.
Anna immediately walked over to the books’ section. There were only three rows. One for fiction, one nonfiction, and one filled with an assortment of poems. She searched for a book called “Othello. Her new lab partner at Forks High, Lysander, had told her about it. And since she’d finished A Midsummer’s Night she needed something else to read.

Lysander was walking outside on Main St. of Forks. It's a really nice day, he thought. A nice day for him was overcast with no chance of sun. It wasn't as if he hated the sun or anything, it was just that him being in public in the sun would cause quite a disturbance.
As he passed by a rather scruffy café, someone caught his eye. It was Anna, the girl he had classes with at school. He smiled pleasantly as he backtracked and entered the small café. Anna was sitting at a table, reading some book. He looked closely and found that she was reading "Othello". Lysander smirked. He was the one that had told her about it.
Silently walking up to her table, he placed his palms on the surface and asked, "How's the book?"

Anna jumped, and nearly fell out of her chair, as someone disrupted her reading. When she were to read, she would just “zone out”, when she was younger, she had read all the way through lunch and most of her classes, at her old orphanage.
When she realized it was Lysander, the one who had recommended the book she was reading, she immediately straightened up. “Oh, it’s good.” She said, What else am I going to say? It stunk? Well, even if I did say that, it would be a lie. This has to be one of the best books I’ve ever read. She told herself.

"Good? That's it? Not amazing, or incredible? This is Othello we're talking about, not some paperback, young-adult story. This play is serious business," he said seriously. But then his mouth cracked a smile. "But I mean, maybe it's not your kind of thing. The whole story is kind of morbid if you ask me. I like morbid though." He looked around the café, at all the patrons, down at his watch then at Anna with his unnaturally dark eyes. Lysander was on his way towards the thicker forests surrounding Forks for a meal. "Arg, sorry. But I've got to leave." He smiled sadly.

Anna laughed, as he seemed offended by not rating Othello higher. She looked at him., smiling. But, her smile dropped, slightly, when he said he had to go. Was he really that defensive toward Othello? she asked herself.
"Oh, okay." Anna said. Then she put the book back up, mostly to try and hide her face. Is it just me, or are his eyes changing colors? she thought, confused. Oh get a grip, that's impossible. she answered, herself. And then she went back to reading, not even bothering that he was still there, for the time being, anway.

He looked down at Anna and smiled. "You know what, do you mind if I just sit here with you? I've got to do something, but I don't really want to do it." Although I should do it, considering I'll be even hungry and even more tempted.... "You know what else? I can recommend a whole list of books if you want something to read besides Shakespeare. There's always Thoreau and Whitman. Or maybe some Steinbeck, you like Of Mice and Men." He sat down in the chair acorss from her.

Anna slowly lowered her book. She listened as he listed some books, she tried to memorize the names, but knew she'd probably forget at least half of them. "Do you...umm...come here, often?" she asked, when there had been a slight silence. She had to keep the conversation going, otherwise he'd leave.
Anna tried to avoid his cold, black eyes. They were slightly creepy, and they reminded her of some of her more...interesting sketches. But they weren't really interesting, they were just...different. She shuddered, slightly, as she thought about the pittiless eyes she'd drawn, it was freaky that Lysander should make her feel that way about him.

"Here? Oh! You mean the café...um, not really...I'm not much of a coffee drinker." In fact, I drink something entirely different! He thought to himself, smiling. "Coffee isn't really good for you, and I don't really need caffeine, I'm much too energetic on my own," he said enthusiastically. Then Lysander furrowed his brows. She was avoiding his eyes. He touched his fingers gently to them and frowned. They must be black already.... He sighed and smiled warmly at Anna trying not to frighten her anymore then he already was since he saw her shudder. "Hello, I'm over here. Something wrong?"

"Yeah...I don't like coffee much, either. Or soda, or anything besides water, really." Anna said, smiling. "It does horrible things to your teeth." she added, in a matter-of-fact tone.
Anna thought about the person that ran the orphanage, back in Georgia, she drank coffee all the time. Her teeth turned brown, from the coffee stains that were left there, after every cup she had.
Anna didn't answer, when Lysander started wondering why she wasn't looking at him. Instead she did look at him, still avoiding his eyes, she looked at his face, but not his eyes. She looked in between them, instead, where his eyebrows were set into a frown, and hoped he wouldn't notice.

Lysander watched as her eyes met his face, but still not his eyes. I knew I should've hunted last night. Great, just great. "Um, I'm sorry I'm scary. I guess...I can't help it." He smiled sheepishly as he turned away so that she wouldn't have to look at him. Lysander tried his best to handle all the blood in the room. It was becoming increasingly harder for him every second he was in here. But he controlled himself the best he could. His hand gripped the table so hard to the point where his fingers made dents in it. His mind ran ramped with thoughts of massacring the whole room. His breath came out in small gasps as his other hand, not gripping the table, clinched itself into a tight fist.

Anna watched as his hands made movements of anger. She looked at the skeptically, “You’re not scary, it’s just…I don’t know.” She admitted, “I have…communication issues.” She finally, said, thinking of a good way to put it.
“Don’t be mad.” Anna added, as she saw that one of his hands was made into a fist. She reached out, to put her hand over the one he still had clenched tightly on the edge of the table.

The moment her hand touched his, his hand jerked back almost as if he was burned by fire. "You don't know what exactly? What do you mean communication issues?" His tone was spiteful. "I'm not mad, just-just...I need to get out." He rose quickly from his chair and ran at a normal, human speed out the door. I always mess things up, he thought as he breathed in the air. The air was still tainted with the smell of human blood, albeit less concentrated.

Anna watched him leave, until he was out of sight. She shoved Othello to the corner of the table. She put her head in her hands, rubbing her fingers into her stinging eyes.
What's wrong with me? Anna asked herself, Why am I always so idiotic, always such a babbling idiot? she thought. "I'm an idiot." she murmured to herself.
