He sighed, sitting up and looking at her, feeling the wind blow rain into his face as she spoke. I don't know. Sort of, I guess. I mean.. I thought it would do something to tell you how I felt. I thought maybe you liked me too.. But apparently not. he said, turning back to the edge of the building, letting his feet hang off. He wondered what would happen if he were to jump off.

Anna laid her cheek against her knees, so her face was to the right and she could see Tristan, out of the corner of her eye. “I never said I didn’t like you, too.” She murmured, as the wind and rain made her hair stick to the side of her face. She shivered involuntarily and wished she had put on a jacket before going outside. Especially with Washington’s kind of weather.
Anna should’ve known better, she was definitely going to catch a cold, or something. And so was Tristan. At least she now had an excuse to skip school. It wasn’t that she hated school. Just that she didn’t want to have to see Tristan there, everyday. Especially if things didn’t go so good, now. He probably wouldn’t want to see her, either.

He sighed as she spoke. You act like I don't exist. Such a great way to show me you like me. he said, his voice only slightly bitter. He sighed, wanting to just jump off the roof and be alone, away from everybody. He'd most likely skip school the next few days. Especially if Anna was there. He wouldn't be able to be around her, knowing that she liked him, and he liked her, yet they did nothing. Or, if something bad happened. He regretted following her, too. He should've just left her alone.

Anna turned her head, so her forehead was pressed against her knees. She didn’t say anything else, though. She knew what Tristan was saying was true. She deserved nothing less than him to be shouting at her. Shouting bad words and insults. She had been flat out mean, to Tristan. “Sorry…” she mumbled, again. That seemed like the only thing that was appropriate to say.
Anna sighed. The rain was coming down harder, now. She hugged her sketching book into herself, so it wouldn’t get wet. Or at least it wouldn’t be that wet. She sighed, again. Karma. she thought, simply. She thought that was why it was raining. She had been so rude to Tristan. And what comes around goes around.

He sighed. Just forget I said anything. he said, moving closer to the edge, sighing again. He didn't know what to do, what to say. You're already good at pretending I don't exist, so why don't I make it easier for you and leave? he said, more of a suggestion than a question. If she wanted him to leave, he would. But he'd most likely not come back.

“I’m only good at isolating myself.” Anna said. It was true. Every moment she spent at the orphanage, she used to live at, she would spend trying to make herself disappear, or fade into the floor and never come back.
“And…I think I don’t want you to leave.” Anna said, she felt blood start pulsing into her cheekbones so fast that it felt like I would be a shade darker than scarlet. She felt unsure of whether she should’ve said that or not. It was only going to make things more confusing. She wished she could just stop it all, stop herself from hurting him, if that was even what was happening.

You shouldn't do that. he said, after she spoke of isolating herself. It gets you nowhere. he said, sighing. As she continued, he looked at her. Why. he said. Why don't you want me to leave? he asked. I need to know if you like me too, he said, though it was obvious she did. If you don't, I'll leave. There won't be any point in staying here, getting even more wet. he stood up, walking over to her and sitting back down. I like you, Anna. More than I should. There's things that I'd rather do with you than anyone else. That I'd rather tell you than anyone else. Just.. tell me one thing.. he said, pausing. Leaning in, he pressed his lips to hers, avoiding contact with his teeth. He pulled back, and spoke. How was that? he asked, though he knew a vampire's kiss could take any human's breath away.

Anna could feel the electricity pulsing through her veins when Tristan kissed her. She could feel her heart accelerating. And she knew that she’d stopped breathing, from the moment his lips touched hers. “Umm…” she said, stupidly. Now that she was breathing again, she was trying to start her brain back up.
Anna thought about his question, for a minute or so. She decided telling the truth, rather than trying not to embarrass herself further, was the better thing to do. “It was nice…really, really nice.” She said. But, surprisingly she didn’t think she was blushing. Then again, that could just be from the fact that her heartbeat was quite back to normal.
Anna turned her head to look at him, to see if she could tell what he was thinking by the expressions on his face. But, weirdly enough, he looked kind of tense. It couldn’t have been that bad, kissing me. she thought, as she began getting self-conscious.

He smiled when she spoke. He heard her thoughts, and smiled again. It definately wasn't bad- kissing her, that is. Strangely enough, he liked it. He never thought he'd actually like being with a human as much as he liked being with Anna. He reached one hand up, cupping her face, his thumb brushing across her cheekbone. She was beautiful, yet she wasn't a vampire. He knew it was possible for humans to be beautiful, he just hadn't met one he liked. Until now.
Leaning in, he pressed his lips to hers once more, yet again careful of his teeth. But he didn't pull back, not yet. He could hear her heartbeat racing, able to tell that she wasn't breathing all to well. He pulled back, smiling at her. You're beautiful. No matter what anyone says. he said, smiling.

Anna stared at him for a few moments, trying to get her breathing under control and her heart to beat normally. She looked down, though. “Before you… umm…..kissed me,” she said, having a little trouble talking, “You said there were things you’d rather say to me than anyone else…” she began, unsure if she should continue or not. “Will you tell me one thing?” she finally asked. “Do you promise me you’ll tell me the truth, just about this one little thing?” she waited. She wouldn’t ask if he wouldn’t tell her, so she’d wait for him to promise, first.

He smiled when she didn't protest about being beautiful. As she spoke, he nodded, but he didn't know what she was going to ask him. It could have been anything. It could have been why he liked her, why he kissed her, why he bothered to stay with her. It could have even been why he was so cold, or why he was gone from school a lot. But he wouldn't be sure how to tell her he was a vampire- if that was the question. He tried hearing her thoughts, but he couldn't. And he didn't know why. I promise. he said.

Anna took in one deep breath, she wasn’t exactly sure about how she was supposed to ask this, or if it should even matter to her. “It’s killing me…and I have to know,” she began, making it up as she went along. “You didn’t answer me before, but…what did you mean when you said that you liked me more than you should?” she asked, emphasizing the words that were really questionable and confusing to her.
“And remember, you promised.” Anna added, just to make sure that there was no loop hole. He was not going to avoid this. “I wouldn’t be asking, but, I know something’s up, and I don’t want you keeping secrets from me.” She said, thinking about the evidence. His incredibly pale and cold skin. Why his eyes changed colors. Why he could be in one place and then the next, like she saw early that day, she thought she might’ve been hallucinating, but now it too seemed slightly suspicious, how fast he got from the school building and caught right up to her.

When she spoke, he looked down, unsure of what to do. He had to think a moment of how he was going to tell her. You didn't just go around saying, ''Oh, by the way, I'm a vampire.'' and act like nothing happened. At the moment, he was glad that he wasn't the other kind. That he didn't feed off of humans. That, would only make things worse. His hand reached up, stroking her cheek. I'm not supposed to like a girl like you. he said, his voice soft, yet slightly dangerous.
He sighed, retracting his hand. I'm different.. if you haven't noticed.. he paused. He definately wasn't just going to come forward and say he was a vampire. He decided on hinting around it, seeing what her thoughts would be, and how she'd react. I know that you've noticed the difference in my speed and appearance. I'm not going to hide that from you. he looked up, hoping that the sun wouldn't come out. He knew what would happen if it did; his skin would look like diamonds. And of course, that would attract humans.
I know you've probably noticed that I don't eat much at lunch, or only come to school when it rains, never during the sunny days.. And there's a reason for that. he said, pausing once more. Before I go on.. he said. I want to know what you're thinking.. If you have any ideas of what I'm trying to tell you.. he continued. he wanted to know if she'd guess it right away, or if he'd have to continue hinting about it.

“A girl like me?” Anna repeated. Then she thought about the few theories she did have about him, though none of them were practical, though. She sighed, “Super natural human mutation?” she questioned, before flushing light pink, “That must sound stupid, sorry…” she muttered. “I need to lay off the science fiction books and movies.” She admitted. She thought about how she had been watching I Am Legend just a few days ago, when she rented it from the movie store.
“Hmm…” she said, thinking about a few of the books she’d recently read. She’d finished the House of Night series a few days ago…“What about bloodlust?” she asked, thinking that, for some strange reason, it seemed reasonable.
“I was just thinking about how Zoey Redbird, the girl that had been marked and turned into a vampire fledgling and experienced bloodlust for her human ex-almost-boyfriend. Is it anything like that?” she asked. Then thought of how bizarre it must seem that she was guessing impossible and fictional things as the explanations for the strange things about Tristan Moore.

He didn't say anything when she questioned about him liking a girl l.ike her. Though he meant a human. When she spoke of human mutation, he smiled, but shook his head. As she continued, He didn't quite get what she was trying to say. He smiled when she spoke about staying off the sci-fi. When she finished, he took a breath, then continued. What are you trying to say? he asked. If.. If you're trying to say I'm a vampire.. he paused. Then you're right. he said, searching her face for a reaction.
