They'll build statues in our likeness They wanted to be like us But did they ever like us anyway?
Victoria was strolling the streets of Seattle; something she didn't do very often. Seattle was slightly out of the way from her normal hunting grounds and lacked the same joy she could glean from trapping a human in the maze of a forest, but over the decades she had existed the vampire had come to realize that it's always helpful to never fall to a particular schedule. If one happens to become a victim to the particular trap, then their enemies can easily use it against you in times of need. All it would take is a little tracking, stalking and a quick mind, which was the sort of thing that, in Victoria's opinion, any half decent vampire should be able to do with ease. So why give them the opportunity?
Surprisingly, Victoria didn't mind wandering Seattle. It was always nice to have a change of scenery; that was why the orange-haired creature had adored the nomadic lifestyle she had entertained for so long. With each different setting, it seemed that the human mind set seemed to be altered slightly, which was always an entertaining thing for Victoria to ponder.
Breaking from the constant wave of crowds wandering the street, -some with a purpose while others were simply wandering much like herself- Victoria took a seat on an empty bench. Her pale fingers traced the cracks in the wood while she allowed her nostrils to take over for a brief moment. The heavy scent of the humans surrounding her was intoxicating, but she had curbed her hunger enough to be able to keep her hunger in check. Nonetheless, the scent planted a yearning in her stomach which made the heavy aroma even more alluring to her sensitive senses.
Those poor, poor humans, Victoria thought with mock pity as her darkening burgundy eyes followed the crowd, not focusing on any figure in particular.
Today, we're making history Tonight, we'll take it to the streets Tomorrow, we'll live in infamy We're under attack Pull the knife from our backs and hold it to their throats

Adriana was in Seattle today with a couple girlfriends, they were going to the Forks High fall formal. They'd found their dresses and were now in the process of choosing shoes. She'd excused herself for a moment to find a pharmacy, she needed to refill her prescription and the Port Angeles pharmacy didn't stock Paxil. They'd waved her off happily, and she'd promised to be back soon. Wandering through the streets of Seattle confusedly, she was hopelessly lost in the dark night when the sickly sweet scent of a vampire trickled up into her nostrils. She couldn't help it; she flinched, then sneezed. She found the vampire's eyes with her own easily, and shuddered at the terror the woman's feline features provoked in her. Along with the hatred, the fear was easy to bear, as she recognized the catlike face.
Victoria.

Victoria had to fight the urge to double over and cover her face to protect herself as an awful odor assaulted her nostrils. Sure, plenty of disgusting smells linger in a big city like Seattle, but Victoria was sure she had never smelt something so terrible as the aroma that was lingering in the air currently. Yet, no matter how horrible it was, at the same time it carried a certain amount of familiarity. The thought in itself was an odd one, since Victoria didn't often go out searching for disgusting smells, but even odder was the fact that the orange-haired vampire couldn't quite place it. Her mind was spinning with racing thoughts as her throat coated itself in a thin layer of venom. Victoria didn't enjoy not knowing things; it was even worse when the vampire knew that she should know whatever secret her mind was hiding from her, but just couldn't put her finger on it.
As soon as she met the eyes of the creature, she recognized the heavy odor. It shocked the vampire to realize that the humans around the girl weren't noticing the stench, but Victoria brushed it off as her bright burgundy eyes narrowed on the girl.
Humans always were too nice for their own good.
Victoria had a feeling that this meeting was going to be much less pleasant than their prior one that was tainted with awkward behavior in Port Angeles. The orange-haired vampire wasn't completely sure what it was about the girl, but something wasn't right. As her feet navigated her way through the crowds with a certain uncanny grace, Victoria could hardly focus. Even if she wanted the play the meeting out like a friendly conversation, Victoria knew it wasn't destined to be. The stench was overpowering any coherent thought that entered her mind. It would most defiantly take some getting used to.
"Baths tend to be helpful. Maybe you should try it sometime."

She assessed the gorgeously frightening vampire in front of her with cold eyes. Adriana refused to be goaded or provoked. She was content to make her own decisions, and whatever decision she made, it would not be rash. In some ways, she was more suited for command than Jacob was. However, she was in no way going to take his birth right from him. She sighed to herself. Victoria was agressive, hostile. It had entered Adriana's mind before she'd even spoken to the red-haired feline in front of her that she would probably want to start a fight. Adriana also wasn't one to lie to herself. She also knew that Victoria was centuries older than her, with plenty of assets. Adriana's only asset was the fact that she was the only thing in the world fit to match the vampire before her, exempting the woman's own kind.
She could see hidden surprise in her dark eyes. She chuckled. Victoria didn't know what she was. That was another advantage. She was probably wondering why everyone else didn't seem to notice the smell. For once, it seemed Adriana's heart wasn't racing. It seemed she was clam. Was this a result of her sudden change in species? She wasn't sure, but she sure as hell was calmer now that she was an agressive half-human then she'd ever been as a half human before. She smiled cruelly, surprising on the gentle werewolf's features.
"Baths wouldn't help my problem, Victoria. Rest assured dirt and sweat wouldn't make me smell like this.

Victoria's head tilted slightly which sent her ponytail of red hair to the left side of her head. A few strands stuck to the side of her face, but Victoria paid them little heed. There were bigger matters that needed attending to, after all. Besides, the orange-haired creature had a one track mind and her beauty didn't rank too high on the list of importance even though Victoria believed she had plenty of it.
"Well then. There's this clever little thing called deodorant. I would invest in some. Genetics isn't much of an excuse, dear," responded Victoria slowly at first, but then her words gradually came quicker as her mind caught up with her tongue. Her voice changed pitches frequently, making it seem like the orange-haired vampire was more likely to be singing a clever song than actually holding a conversation. Victoria tried to focus on her words rather than the smell that seemed to be burning her nostrils, yet even with her attention diverted it was difficult to focus. There simply wasn't something right about all of this.
At that moment, Victoria quickly decided that the matter of most importance was gleaning as much information that she could from whatever was in front of her. Consequently, she didn't want to leave gaps in her information that she would eventually relay to James nor did she want to dilute it with her own guesses. On top of which, guessing was a tedious process that was more often than naught filled with riddles and gave the guesser less power in the conversation, which was not something Victoria was interested in. No, instead of trying to press for information, the orange-haired vampire would simply wait for the girl to incriminate herself. Later, Victoria would begin to press for details if the seemingly human girl didn't have as loose a tongue as the vampire hoped.
In the back of her mind, Victoria quickly began mapping out an escape route and a route she could possibly take if she needed to attempt to take the girl prisoner. It would be a difficult task, but taking humans hostage had never presented much of an obstacle before.

Adriana chuckled knowingly to herself. If Victoria didn't already kow, she thought it was best not to tell her. In any case...she would have the element of surprise on her side, correct?
She was sad to learn that she could barely muster a level of hatred for Victoria. It seemed that everything that made her who she was now was being held against her. She just couldn't summon up the raw, burning hatred that Jacob could for Edward. All she could hate about Victoria was the murder she inflicted everywhere she went...her animosity, the fact that she would stalk an innocent human girl for her relation to her own enemy. In the end, all these were things to be hated. But she wasn't sure...someday, she'd have to want to hurt someone for the good of everyone else. She'd happily die for the rest of them if it meant they were safe. Did it come down to that?
She kept a slight smug smile on her face as she looked at Victoria. "I'll remember the deoderant, thanks."
