Once again Anna’s feet were fighting against each other, and her wish that they would just stay were she was standing. This is insane! she told herself. He also must love watching me make a fool of myself because I can’t control something totally inevitable! And he’s doing it on purpose, now… she thought, bitterly, as Tristan brushed his finger tips against her cheek.
Why is he so…ice cold? Anna asked herself, knowing that she couldn’t answer that question, but she wasn’t going to word it, either. But, her question had double meanings. For one, his fingers were freezing, like he had stuck his fingers in piles of fresh snow and they were still thawing out. And the other, was the way he was looking at her. Like he was trying to control himself, and at the same time…wanting something. Maybe he just wanted to continuously embarrass her, just for the heck of it and the fun of watching her flush, repeatedly.

When he realized she wasn't coming, he walked up to her, grabbing her hand and bringing her to the park. As they walked, he spoke, letting go of her hand. Why do you seem so.. resistant? he asked, looking at her. You seem like you want to come, yet you don't. he said, looking up and seeing the park entrance about 50 feet away.
He sighed, walking into the park. Looking at her, he smiled. He didn't know why he liked her. After all, she was only a human. And vampires were not supposed to be with humans. But this one.. Anna.. Tristan thought she was beautiful. And he thought she smelled amazing. Subtly, he moved closer, now just a few inches away. Do you want to sit, or do you want to keep walking? he asked.

Resistant. Anna repeated, laughing in her head. She was actually just trying to exercise self control. Trying…but failing. She knew Tristan had no reason to be interested in her, not even the tiniest bit. And, she knew if she continued to allow him to continue what he was doing, continue stringing her along, she’d get hurt…bad. And she didn’t think she could handle that. She was always very sensitive, fragile. Whether she let it show or not. But, she still decided not to answer. For one thing, she couldn’t think of an answer, that wouldn’t embarrass her, further. And the other thing, was the fact that that question didn’t really require an answer…it was more of a statement, or an observation, so she didn’t feel obliged to reply.
Anna peeked sideways at him, as he sighed. She was wondering if he’d already gotten bored of her, like most people, boys especially, do. She was actually surprised it had lasted that long. And she had a feeling it was coming to an end…soon. “We can keep walking.” Anna said, her voice sounded slightly hoarse, and was barely above a whisper, though she had no idea why.

He smiled when she said that they could keep walking. Moving closer once more, he spoke. But I don't want to keep walking. he said, taking her hand and pulling her over to a bench. Sitting down, he sighed, mostly to himself. He didn't know what to do. He wanted her.. but what way? Was it just bloodthirst or was it actual... want? Sighing, he spoke again. Anna.. he said, stopping. To be honest, I took you here because I wanted to be alone with you. he said, looking at her. I like you, Anna. Probably more than I should. he said, his voice soft.

Anna went rigid in her seat. Once again, stuck in a state of shock. Uh… was all she could even think, let alone the fact that she wasn’t going to be able to say anything.
After a few minutes of them just sitting there, Anna was finally able to gather her suddenly scrambled thoughts. However, “Uh…” was the only thing she managed to say. Great, so now I’m only going to be able to word my thoughts? she thought bitterly, though she knew she was just trying to distract herself.
Anna, for some strange reason she didn’t even know, yearned to tell him she liked him, too. Though she didn’t think she could or should. They’d barely just met. How was she supposed to be so certain, so soon? So, instead, she settled for saying “Er…I have to go.” Before grabbing her school bag and walking away so fast, that her pace was barely under a run. Please don’t follow me, please don’t follow me, she continued to think, desperately.
