Blysse was playing with her new iPhone. Yes, she felt that sounded appropriately teenager-ish. In reality, she was flipping up and down a new song her brother had just written. He'd asked her thoughts, and she was trying to think of them. Trying to think of her thoughts? Now there was a pun, if she ever did think one. Oh, haha! She was on punny fire today.
Rather than torture her obviously poorly socialized brain with more internal dialogue she looked up at the Port Angeles skyline. She'd once told someone once that she wasn't a photographer so much as she just saw a lot of pretty things and took pictures of them. It was true, though people rarely believed her. She sighed. That statement was almost deep. Maybe she'd been drinking a little too much tequila at the time.
Oh, look, there! she thought to herself. She'd spotted one of those picture perfect shots: the cuteness of the little street before her but she sun had lit up an area of cloud with a hill just behind it. It was pretty, in an unconvential way. Not unlike herself. Holding up her camera, she snapped and checked the display. She smiled. Perfect.

Freddy strolled along the sidewalk just as he did almost everyday. Everyday that didn't have sunshine. That all too familiar smirk played upon his face as his steps matched the imaginary rhythm he had thought of in his mind. The particular reason for today's stroll was due to the stuffiness of the small house Victoria, James, and Laurent kept in Port Angeles. He wasn't someone who hid himself inside all day, in fact, he was quite the outdoors man. Not only did he play sports, and was at the top no less, he loved to camp. Did I camp when I was human? Ever since being turned, he couldn't remember anything about his human life. There were bits and pieces here and there. But those bits and pieces were just snippets of a bigger picture. A picture he couldn't quite see.
The scent of blood hung heavy in the air, but it wasn't concentrated enough for him to become thirsty, he had three men just the other night. He was pretty sure his eyes were still blood red. But he kept his distance from the humans though. If he stepped too close, well...he couldn't really account for his actions.
A girl appeared before him, standing in his path. He narrowed his eyes at her. But then the sun appeared in his line of sight and he quickly took a few steps back. "Great..." He whispered to himself.

She was checking through her new folder of photos when footsteps behind her raised her alarm. She wouldn't have been conventionally described as "skittish" but she did scare easily, a habit of someone who was often terrified. She smiled at a particular shot she'd taken the other day of a dear caught before the setting sun. She traced the animal's silouette with an almost impossibly pale finger. And then the smell hit her.
Glorious, perfect, and luxuriant, it made every ache of her body subside and every particle in her realm of vision glow substantially. She wanted to smile was much too intrigued. Slowly, she turned. She was entirely unaware of the source of this glorious odor wafting through the air. She didn't expect it to be a human.
He himself was the personification of the smell. Beautiful and almost as pale as she (how did that happen?) every inch of his body seemed to be flawless in a way only heavily airbrushed models could even hope to look. Curious. Something told her to be terrified but that was such an odd notion...she heard him mutter. It was good to put a voice with the smell. It was every bit as perfect as the rest of him. What she didn't understand was the subdued bitterness in his tone. Frowning, she turned to the perfect, godlike boy hiding in the shadows. "I'm sorry?" She hadn't caught what he'd said.

He watched her carefully as she slowly turned around to look at him. "What?" He asked. "Oh...nothing," he said. The sun's rays seemed to be getting closer and closer. He had to take a few steps back to make sure they wouldn't hit him. He wasn't sure what the girl's reaction would be if she saw what the sun did to his skin.
And then the smell hit him. It was the scent of her luxurious blood. She had gotten much too close. The blood he drank yesterday seemed to disappear from his stomach. He was all of a sudden much too hungry. He stopped breathing. James had warned him to pick his meals carefully.
"Are you a photographer?" His pensive eyes spied the photographs in her hands. He was trying to distract himself.

She moved slowly, afriad to set him more on edge. She turned to her camera and tried to babble. It worked nicely. "Yeah, I've been doing it ever since I was a kid. I can't draw, so I might as well take pretty pictures, right? Well, anyway, I've done some on nature and I've photographed some with people but usually I just rest for some trees and an interesting light source. Granted, the sun isn't so interesting, but since all my photography stuff is still in boxes it'll work. It's the source of all light, so I can probably figure something out." I smiled awkwardly. "What's your name, stranger?"

Freddy didn't really pay attention to the specific words she said, all his attention was focused on her voice. The downs. The ups. He simply nodded along to what she had said. Dammit...James warned me about going out today. He said the sun would be sketchy in some parts. And now I've gotten too close. Just my luck, he thought angrily. And it seemed that he focused his anger on the girl. She just had to get close. But he knew that it was wrong to blame her. It was his fault for being out today. But that house is so damn stuffy. He was too absorbed in his thoughts to answer the girl right away. But when he did, finally, answer her, he choked out, "Freddy Umphries." His voice was hoarse with bloodlust. He hadn't meant to say his whole, entire name. He couldn't quite think straight at the moment. "Yours?" He asked harshly. But he cleared his throat as if signaling that the severity in his voice wasn't her fault.

She was awkwardly still, backing up a little bit more. She didn't give an explanation, it didn't seem like his feelings were hurt by the movement either. She kept as still as possible, tensing if she needed to run. Eyeing the long, lean muscle under his sweater, she had to admit her chances of outrunning him weren't good. At least she'd draw some attention to herself, though. That had to count for something. She babbled again.
"Blysse Davidson. It's an odd name, I know, and no one ever spells it right. My parents were a little kooky, I suppose, I was the second twin born so maybe my brother tired them out or something."

He could see her tense up. He smirked. His head quickly whipped around, too fast for human eyes to see. The smirk got bigger once he realized that they were alone. I could snap that little neck of hers. His throat was painfully dry. He was thirsty. Arg, I shouldn't feel like this. I drank yesterday. But...I guess not enough...she won't even have time to scream. "Blysse," he said, his mouth testing her name on his tongue. It was, in fact, a weird name. None of the girls at his high school had a name like hers. Common names like Jessica, Elizabeth, and Sarah plagued his classes. "So what's a girl like you doing all alone?" He used his alluring scent and voice. Freddy stepped closer. "It's not safe even though it's daytime." This is going to be so easy.

{ahh please don't kill my charrie haha. everyone wants to eat her, she smells too good, i guess.}
His speed immediately set me on edge. I wanted to scream, but couldn't. Where were my trusty adrenaline reactions now? I couldn't even form the thought to run, even though I knew that would be hopelessly futile. Where was everyone? It wasn't as if I was some young woman cornered by a sadist in the dead of night in an alleyway. I was in a street in broad daylight! Jeez.
I shivered once, but tried to hide my fear. "I'll say," I said. It didn't seem safe. "A girl like me? Who's like me, then?" I wondered if I could fight him off. I was tall but too thin...I didn't think I had the best chances here. Or any chance at all, for that matter.

Freddy smiled. Nevermind. She's not worth the trouble. But that doesn't mean I can't have fun with her. He stepped closer as the sun retreated. He was just a few inches from her now. His hand slowly reached out to her cheek. His fingers softly traced the length of her face starting at the temple then ending at her chin. "You're kinda pretty," he said mockingly. Freddy laughed and bared his teeth.

She shivered but stood her ground. It seemed his frightening characteristics diminished as soon as he teased her. She put on her fiercest expression and crossed her arms. "So? What do you care?" She didn't want to be called pretty by anyone. She hated compliments, hated falisties. She wished everything in life could be like business: I want something from you, you want something from me. That way she didn't have to worry about fale promises or hurt feelings. For eighteen years this philosophy had served her quite well. She had every intention on continuing it the rest of her sure to be short life.

Freddy chuckled. She's sort of feisty. "Calm down. What's wrong with a tiny, little compliment? I just said you were soft of pretty. Shouldn't you thank me?" He smirked now. Blysse was something else. Girls usually worshiped the very ground he walked on. Even more so now that he was a vampire. Blysse was a first. It seemed as if she saw through his façade of arrogance and over-confidence. She thinks she's something. "I've seen hundreds of girls exactly like you. I've dated hundreds of girls like you. I know your type. The outspoken, spirited kind. Not to be cocky or anything, it kind of gets old after awhile."

He really knew how to push her buttons. She looked at him angrily, crossing her arms. She knew she had a temper. She just didn't get a chance to use it much. "Ah, right. Well, you see, the thought of you giving me anything worth thanking you for just kind of makes me want to hurl. So, if you'll excuse me, I'm afraid you're just going to miss out on my gratitude. A shame, I know." She glared at him fiercely. "Somehow I think you'll survive."
She raised her eyebrows. "Alright, ignoring the fact that hundreds of other girls ordained to date you"--She could actually see how that would happen, it was simple math. Incredibly attractive jock? Who cares if he has the worst attitude ever, right?--"I can the focus on the 'I know your type' part." She wasn't one for mocking imitations. She imitated his voice spot on, as well as anyone could have. Returning to her argument quickly, she said, "I'm sure you know what you perceive as my 'type', and all, and you're perfectly welcome to your own hideously ignorant generalizations. However, I do not think you're trying to come off as humble when you say 'not to be cocky'. So save your pathetic attempts at humility for someone who cares, if you can find one."

Freddy's laughter rang out through the quiet street. She's a funny one. "Trust me sweetheart, I haven't even started." His mind ran through hundreds upon hundreds of insults that could make Blysse break down and cry. He just didn't want to upset her...yet. "You know it's not my fault they all, but hurled themselves at me. I evoke that kind of response in some of them." He laughed mockingly again. "Ignorant generalizations? Please. I deserve much more credit then that. And besides, I've found hundreds of girls who think my pathetic attempts at humility are sexy." It was his turn to imitate her. "Blysse, Blysse, Blysse. You're lucky I'm being my usual self today. It's not a good thing if you catch me on my bad days." He smirked at her.

She snorted. She was tougher than he thought she was; she wanted to show him that. She raised an eyebrow, refusing to be rash. "That's the best defense you can come up with? That some people think you're sexy? Well, then, you're even lower than I thought you were if you act like a jerk just to get laid." She hadn't necessarily thought he was better than that, not by much, anyways, but at least now she had concrete proof to prove to herself that he was an asshole. "I'm lucky? Fantastic, I'll be sure to remember that I've got enough luck to run into you, because that was my chief desire today, and catch you on your good side. I'm really happy that I now know that you're really even worse than this."
