The clock on Lysander's dashboard neared seven o' clock. After his classes had ended, he had once again raced over to Adriana's school and waited to take her home. He promptly dropped her off at her house with a kiss on the cheek. Then, once again, he raced over to his house to start on dinner.
And, after looking up recipes, racing down to Seattle to get ingredients since the Forks grocery store had never once heard of basmati rice or tandoori masala, and finally cooking dinner...well...it didn't exactly work out. The chicken was overcooked, the bread was burnt and the rice...let's not talk about the rice. So after a few minutes of self-pitying at his current situation, he raced back to Seattle to find an Indian restaurant and ordered Tandoori chicken and steamed Basmati rice with garlic nan bread.
After the whole ordeal with a kitchen that will need some serious cleaning, he was more then ready to see Adriana. He was more then excited for tonight. Hopefully everything will be perfect... He couldn't help, but come up with outrageous, ridiculous, and ludicrous circumstances for tonight, all of which ended tragically somehow.
His stopped the car in front of her house. After checking his hair in the mirror and fixing his black, suit jacket, he got out and walked to the front door. He took a breath then knocked.

I had spent the entirety of the day in a tizzy, my stomach bubbling nervously in anticipation. If I heard one word that had been said to me that entire day, I wouold be astounded. My aunt looked at my with a smile in her eyes as I bolted up the stairs. "Kiss you goodbye?" she called as I sifted through my drawers. I popped over the banister. "That obvious?" I gasped. She smiled and sipped her soda. I groaned and bolted back to my drawers. "I don't have any dresses! Ugh...why couldn't I have remembered to be a girl this once?" I asked, turning back to my aunt. She seemed thoughtful. "You don't have any dress pants either, do you?" she asked. I shook my head, mortified. She pointed her soda bottle at me. "You know, I still have all your mother's clothes. I never threw them out, you know?" I nodded. My aunt was my mother's sister...she took it hard when mom died. She led me into what had been my mother's room (she still lived in the same house she was born in) and threw open a box marked "dresses". She sifted through, then looked at me. "You're taller than her, but you're thinner than she was." I blushed. "Nah, your mom was pretty voluptuous. We weren't shocked that she married so young, beauty like her." I looked down. My aunt looked up at me. "You look so much like her...you're even more beautiful than she was." I blushed harder. "No, don't deny it. There's some reason that only someone like Lysander would be able to keep all the other boys off you." Even more uncomfortable, I looked out the window. She chuckled, and whistled.
"Ahh, I remember the last time your mom wore this dress. She wore it at my wedding...that must have been twenty years ago. She pulled out a beautiful white halter dress, the classic kind that never go out of style. It wasn't too fancy, just perfect. She held it up to me. "I have shoes that'll go with it. It'll fit perfectly." I smiled.
"Thank you so much, Nan." That was what I called her. I took the dress and all but ran back to my room. The dress fit--I didn't know how, but it did. The key hole neckline was a bit of a distraction, though. I normally wasn't the type to show that much cleavage. I came down the stars and my aunt whistled.
"Don't wear that to church, hun." She laughed and proceeded to attack me with a curling iron and makeup. I flinched so many times in the next half hour that I'm sure the entire process could have qualified as torture. In the end, though, I had to thank her. My hair managed to shine somehow, and curled down my back loosely. I looked...pretty. It was odd, even for me. As soon I was hairsprayed stiff a knock came on the door. I jumped. Nan chuckled. I slipped into my shoes quickly and grabbed my coat from her. I felt odd. I felt...exposed. Nan roared at my expression. I walked up the the door and opened it after a deep breath.
He looked good. Amazing. Beyond belief. I couldn't imagine it--how he was that perfect and still alive. Surely his heart would have stopped once he saw his reflection...ahh, but there was the thing. His heart had stopped beating. Maybe that was the only way he could handle it. I smiled. "Hi." It was all I could choke out.

Lysander was slightly breathless for a few seconds. "...hello...you look....really gorgeous...not that you never look gorgeous or anything it's just..." His eyes traveled down and then up her body, resting pleasantly on her face. "That dress is just...exquisite and your hair..." Lysander reached over and gently ran his fingers through her hair, finally resting his hand on her back. He moved forward and kissed her forehead softly. Lysander breathed out, feeling a whole lot better about the situation with the food. He frowned. "I tried cooking...it didn't exactly work out like I planned, so I had to get take-out...I hope that's okay." He knew that she wouldn't object, it was her idea to get take-out in the first place. "So...are you ready?"

Adriana smiled at his dumbfounded expression. His babbling was cute...she'd miss it if she ever lost him. And then there was th idea of losing him. She'd thought her stomach was going to fall through the floor at the very idea. But that wasn't what she wanted to focus on tonight. She blushed at his compliments, looking down. "Well...thank you, I suppose. It was my mother's." She laughed at the sheepish expression in his eyes. "You're silly. Of course that's fine." She hoped he didn't feel too bad...

He smiled softly as her cheeks flushed. It made him want her even more if that was even possible. It was as if he wore constant blinders. He only had eyes for Adriana. "You're welcome...your mother has good taste in clothing," he said to her genuinely. There were no words to express when she opened the door and saw her in that dress. He didn't know Adriana could look even more beautiful then she already was. And then the weight lifted from his shoulders when she said that take-out was fine. Lysander knew he shouldn't have tried cooking the food himself. He was a lousy cook when he was human so why should he be a better cook now?
"I was thinking, after dinner, you and I could take a walk through the forest? I mean...you don't have to, of course, I'm just suggesting. I heard the sky is going to be clear tonight so we could see all the stars. But it'll be really cold and everything..." He bit the inside of his cheek. "And I'll make sure nothing happens to you like...last time."

I smiled. He seemed happy, free. I liked it. It made him somehow even more irresitible. It was quite a feat. I looked down at the dress and twirled side to side so the skirt swished around my legs. "Thank you, I always thought so too." I grinned up at him. I saw how the expression made his eyes warm. It made my heart melt. Like so many other things about him.
I liked his idea about the forest. And, to my surprise, the idea of reentering there didn't fill me with fear. Maybe it was Lysande,r maybe it was confidence in my new form. Thinking of my wolf self, I realized Lysander still wanted to see me in it. I blushed. The transformation didn't work so well with clothes...I wasn't sure what I was going to do about that. Trying to forget it, I smiled at his bewildering perfection. "A walk in the woods sounds good." I hoped the genuinity of my smile would tell him I didn't still worry about the woods.

Lysander watched as she playfully twirled from side to side as if she were a little girl. She looks so youthful, he thought sadly. A small smile crossed his face. He took her hand in his and pressed her palm to his cheek, feeling the extreme warmth in her touch. He knew if it could, his heart would swell with adoration. Adriana evoked that kind of feeling in him. It was hard enough for him to not just pounce and cover her in kisses. The softness from her hand made him sigh contently. It was the only comfort he ever knew since he was changed.
A blush appeared across her face. He wasn't sure why it emerged, but he thought she looked even lovelier with color on her cheeks. He smiled more genuinely when she agreed. It didn't seem to him that she feared going into the woods now. "Good. I was hoping you'd agree." He took her hand that pressed against his cheek and placed on the inside of the elbow he held out to her. "Shall we?" There was definite excitement in his voice.

I frowned confusedly at the sad look that crossed his eyes. He pressed my hand to his cheek, and I found that I no longer shivered at its iciness. I hoped he wasn' speculating about how he was taking my life from me again. He did too much of that anyways.
I smiled as he moved my hand to his elbow, like I was escorting him to a ball or some such silly thing. I smiled at him, trying to erase the subdued sadness that still hung, suspended, in his eyes. "We shall."

Lysander led her over to my car and opened the passenger's side door for her. After she got in, he closed her door and went around the other side to the driver's seat. Once he closed the door, he turned to her as he placed the key into the ignition and started the car. He sighed once again and he felt that more would come. "You do look really pretty tonight. More then pretty, beautiful." Her face was so clear in his mind. He could see every strand of hair, every eye lash. He bent closer to her and kissed her temple then backed out of the driveway and got onto the road. Once they reached the freeway, his foot stepped onto the gas pedal and the car soon reached over 150 mph. His eyes watched as he threaded through the other cars.

I smiled at him as he opened my door for me. "Always so gentlemanly," I said with a grin. I sat down, it took him seconds to get around the front of the car. I looked over to him again and was immediately stunned by his beauty. He was more god than vampire. I hoped the similarity to Romeo & Juliet didn't imply anything about our respective fates. I was frozen by his compliments, I blushed again, looking down shyly. "Thank you," I said softly. "You look really nice too." My heart exploded at the feel of his lips against my skin. I was going to develop hypertensive crises if that insisted on reoccuring every time he kissed me.

"Oh...why thank you," he said when she complimented him. He smiled at her as he continued to weave through the gaps between cars. He drowned out noise from the other cars. He drowned out their occupants' conversations, music, and engines. All he wanted to focus on was Adriana.
After a few more minutes on the freeway, Lysander exited and drove up onto a narrow road the lead to his house. He stopped at a gate and waited for it to open before driving onto the driveway. Lysander parked and stopped the engine. He quickly went around to the passenger's side door and opened it. The house itself was dark except for the porch light next to the door.

I smiled at him. He seemed kind of on edge. Trusting his driving skills, I gently turned his face to mine. "I love you." I said.
[sorry for the short post]

Lysander led Adriana into the dark house, the scent of the food had already hit his nose when he drove onto the driveway. There was only one source of light. It was very dim, just a tiny glow, and it was coming from the kitchen. He entwined his fingers with hers as he walked to the kitchen. Two candles were lit, one was not. Each formed a triangle around a single rose in a tiny vase. "Oh no!" Lysander let go of her hand as he walked over to the table. He reached into his pocket for a set of matches and lit the unlit candle. Lysander blew out the match and walked back to Adriana. "Sorry...I guess I forgot that candle." He smiled and led her to one of the two chairs. Lysander moved the chair back for her to sit in.

I shook my head and chucked at his perfectionism. "I am personally astounded that you even brought out candles for me. The fact that you forgot one candle in this entire beautiful display is kind of inconsequntial." I shrugged, and then made a "yum" noise. "That smells...amazing. I think you went to the exact same place me and my mom used to go." I smiled at him, and kissed his jawline softly. I was never sure how far I could go with him, in terms of kisses. I tended to avoid his lips just for that reason.

"Oh, well. I just wanted to make everything special. You deserve it." Lysander smiled. "That does smell amazing." After she had sat down, he gave her chair a little nudge and walked over to the kitchen counter where he laid out the food on a dinner plate. He grabbed one of the two plates of food and a glass of water and laid it in front of Adriana. He went back for his food and set it down in front of where he sat before sitting down himself. Lysander took the white, cloth napkin from under his fork and knife and placed in on his lap. "Eat up," he said happily.
